Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with RA in2001 much later in 2007 I developed psoriasis so now diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis (cosultant) but specialist nurse says "pattern of arthritis would still fit in with Rh Arth although I have many psoriatic arth features"
So lucky ol me I have both I wonder does anyone else suffer from a "gruesome twosome" pattern of arthritis? sorry I dont have a pic to go with my message but dont know how to do that kind of thingy

Yes I have polyenthesitis and psoriatic arthritis. I suspect it's very common to have two or more auto immune disorders.

Thank u for your post Paul. I have enthesitis both elbows which mercifully is fairly settled at present. I have had both knees and hip replaced, but cannot walk the beautiful derbyshire counryside as I once did,one day hopefully. I dont want to be too nosy but wonder if u are assessed/monitored by DAS score How useful do u think it is in psoriatic arthritis? I sometimes wonder re its usefullness at accurately assessing disease activity as it does not take into account skin condition, still I suppose if their is no "tool"for psoriatic then its acceptable to a certain degree All the best Glennie

DAS scoring is completely useless in enthesitis because the pain points are the insertion points of the ligaments into the skeleton, which generally are outside of the joint structure. So we don't bother with DAS scoring. Psosriatic is very much the secondary arthropathy for me.

Actually, I have four interactive diseases because I also have ulcerative colitis which is the root cause of the enthesitis, and migraine which is related too. I try not to count the conditions though - it gets too depressing.

Hi Glennie

I have sero-negative arthritis (very much the same symptoms and medication as RA but without the Rheumatoid factor) and enthesitis. My father has suffered with psoriasis for much of his live and within the last couple of years has also developed arthritis and is now being treated for psoriatic arthritis. We have been told there may be some genetic factors at play as my younger sister suffered from very bad ulcerative colitis a couple of years ago in her very early 30's and had to have major surgery. I think if you have 1 auto-immune disease you are often pre-disposed to more.

It is a shame you are unable to walk the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, my husband and I live in Manchester but we often spend time enjoying the gorgeous Derbyshire scenery it is second to none!

Hi Glenice-great to see you on here. How are you these days. We haven't spoken for ages. Jenni is still around as well! I have RA, psoriasis and Sjorgrens disease so yes, it does seems likely that a lot of us have more than one problem. Take care. My e-mail is jeanmboyd@yahoo.co.uk. Would love to hear from you xx

Hey glen!

Good to say hello to a familiar top galSmile

I've been playing RA bingo for sometime now....
Think with my list I can shout 'house' any moment?

I've got steroid induced diabetes and that steroids gone awry syndrome ummmm oh yes secondary addisons
Then there's the cushingoid stuff with that
Plus the neuro probs left over from those drug reactions
Anyway- on the RA front I think I've decided to rename it- 'immuney gone wrongy' disease.
It affects my tum so that colitis
There's this bronciastasis in my chest
Then the pleuritic pain
And the costocondritis
Fibromyalgia

It even affects my voice and my tongue!

My latest addition is this hurting leg rash which is erythema nodosum

Many years ago
My Gp said that type of RA i have is much more systemic based and can affect anywhere the immune system affects. That's been true for me.
Certainly it seems there are some sorts of sub groups of raers that are very bone related and others systems related

Interesting

I've got positive everything bloods wise for ra and its been a struggle to get any control drugs wise

Thanks everyone
Paul,I too try not to tot up my "afflictions"although having recently been diagnosed with heart disease and glaucoma I did raise my eyes skyward and wondered if "him upstairs" had owt else in store.
Deb,thanks, genetic factors worry me and I am afraid that I tend to be overprotective with my daughters. Derbyshire is great but in this weather theres nowhere like the UK in general it really is a green and pleasant land take care Glennie
Jean and Jenni, two top bananas, seems like loads of us have more than one "immuney gone wrongy" condition. If only we had a reset button, hang on! whats this button shaped thing thats appeared on my belly Oh eck its just another wart
Did I mention that I am gradually turning into Whistlers mother?
Take care Glennie

Hi again Glennie. I am sure that Lyn Wilson will come on for a chat when she picks up your post. She has had a really bad year with heart problems but after a struggle now seems to be getting better and is starting to exercise. She may have some wise words for you. Take care. Xxxxxx

Hello Glennie

Remember me ? Great to hear from you again. I'm still about can't help with your problems at the moment
I am afraid though but I see you have been some support.

I am plodding on they say I have Fibro along with Sero Negative. have really bad times with pain and fatigue and
the stress of working is definitely not good for me now. I am having an Independent Medical Report done so I
am hope you will say not fit to work, although probably come back and say 'come on gal, put your back into it'

Keep in touch.

Can you play dot to dot with the buttons on your tummy?

My 5 yr old (yes that baby is 5!!!!!)
Sings lots
One song goes like this

'Ive got hands that can wave
I've got feet that can walk
But what does my tummy button do?
I've got knees that can knock
A mouth that can talk
But what does my tummy button do?

It sits in the middle of my tummy
It once was joined up to my mummy
Now it looks really funny
I've got one and so have you!'
